How I found Organization and Feng Shui
Surprising to some, I was a typical messy teenager, I left my clothes out and needed to make my bed. However, strangely enough; I ALWAYS had a very neat closet and neat dresser drawers. I wasn’t neat on the outside, but I always put things away in the right place, when I did get around to putting them away. I only had to teach myself how to be organized on the outside. As an adult, it didn’t take long to create the habit of "being neat." For family presents I would go to family member’s homes and organize. I’d love to get in there and redo cabinets, pantries, and closets! That’s how the organizational part began.
While working with organization I read a book on feng shui. After reading a few chapters it was an unusual realization that feng shui was there to help me improve and grow in my life. Even though I had heard of feng shui years ago, it was not until this point that I immersed myself in feng shui studies. I have read countless books on feng shui. The subject matter really requires one to be a lifelong student. I have received certification through The Feng Shui Research Center in Toronto, Canada and also through The Western School of Feng Shui.
Family
I have a wonderful husband and a new puppy who recently showed up on my Welcome Mat one evening. We don’t have any kids, but spend time with our many nieces and nephews. Growing up I was the middle child. I have 3 sisters, one brother, and a great mom and dad. My husband is one of 12 kids, yes 12.
Interests
In the winter, I enjoy skiing. My husband volunteers for the adaptive ski program and assists challenged athletes. It’s rewarding and we meet many great people. In the summer, we like to be around the water. We have an older boat and river kayaks for easy floats on the water. I enjoy gardening and my husband is good about helping me with projects outside.
Travel
I love seeing new places and meeting new people. I have traveled all over the country, from the New England States to Texas and from Alaska to San Diego. Many of my visits have been in the car visiting National Parks and stopping in small towns along the way. I was even a volunteer park ranger one summer at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. I have been to the United Kingdom, Central America, and Japan.
Teaching
For 17 years I have been an elementary school teacher. I love kids and teaching. Fortunately, I am part of a program that is allowing me to job-share. I teach 3rd grade for a week and then work with feng shui and organization for a week. I feel like I have the best of both worlds and am so lucky to have two jobs I love.
